About the teacher

Mrs. Krall has been teaching art full-time at St. Mark since 2017. She graduated from the University of Wisconsin- Madison with an undergraduate degree in K-12 art education and later received a masters degree in art education from Kent State University. She loves teaching, encouraging students to express their creativity and grow in their faith!

Below is a listing of the topics and some of the lessons students will cover in Mrs. Krall's art classes at St. Mark Catholic School.

Grades K- 2

Students will work with a variety of media and techniques.
Students will learn about the elements of art (line, shape, form, color, value, texture, space) and incorporate this learning into their artwork.
Students will learn about artists, their style and create artwork inspired by the artist’s work.
Examples - Ceramics, Crayon Resist Painting, Mondrian Collage, Line Drawings, Tempera painting, Mixed-media

Grades 3 - 5

Students will continue to build on their knowledge of the art elements of line, shape, form, color, space, value and texture.
Students will learn about artists, their style and create artwork inspired by the artist's work.
Students will explore a variety of art techniques and media including pencil drawing, oil pastels, paint, collage and ceramics.
Students will learn to critique their own work and be encouraged to develop their own artistic style.
Examples - Van Gogh Sunflowers, Hundertwasser Trees, Monet Waterlilies

Grades 6-8

Students will continue to learn about artists, their styles and create their own artwork inspired by the artist's work.
Students will be encouraged to develop their own artistic style.
Students will apply the principles and elements of art to their compositions.
Students will reflect upon their work by writing artist statements at the conclusion of their projects
Students will gain experience in drawing, shading, painting, and sculpting.
Examples of work - Papier-mache sculpture, Tooled foil relief, Color Theory, Tessellations
