About the teacher

Mrs. Krall has been teaching art full-time at St. Mark since 2017. She graduated from the University of Wisconsin- Madison with an undergraduate degree in K-12 art education and later received a masters degree in art education from Kent State University. She loves teaching, encouraging students to express their creativity and grow in their faith!

​Below is a listing of the topics and some of the lessons students will cover in Mrs. Krall's art classes at St. Mark Catholic School.
​    Grades K- 2

  • Students will work with a variety of media and techniques.​
  • ​​Students will learn about the elements of art (line, shape, form, color, value, texture, space) and incorporate this learning into their artwork.​
  • Students will learn about artists, their style and create artwork inspired by the artist’s work.
  • Examples - Ceramics, Crayon Resist Painting, Mondrian Collage, Line Drawings, Tempera painting, Mixed-media

  Grades 3 - 5

  • Students will continue to build on their knowledge of the art elements of line, shape, form, color, space, value and texture.
  • Students will learn about artists, their style and create artwork inspired by the artist's work.
  • Students will explore a variety of art techniques and media including pencil drawing, oil pastels, paint, collage and ceramics.
  • Students will learn to critique their own work and be encouraged to develop their own artistic style.
  • Examples - Van Gogh Sunflowers, Hundertwasser Trees, Monet Waterlilies

        Grades 6-8
  • Students will continue to learn about artists, their styles and create their own artwork inspired by the artist's work.
  • Students will be encouraged to develop their own artistic style.
  • Students will apply the principles and elements of art to their compositions.
  • Students will reflect upon their work by writing artist statements at the conclusion of their projects
  • Students will gain experience in drawing, shading, painting, and sculpting.
  • Examples of work - Papier-mache sculpture, Tooled foil relief, Color Theory, Tessellations
